In 2002 I graduated as an Occupational Therapist (OT). Through the profession of OT I developed valuable skills in understanding human choice and behavior, and through my interactions with people from different walks of life, being challenged by disability and illness, I have been inspired by the depth of the human spirit. It is this that has contributed to my always-sees-the-glass-half-full attitude to life. But human beings are not uni-dimensional, and over time what I like to call my ‘inner geek’ started to beckon. I found myself integrating my love for technology into my profession and being an early adopter of digital platforms.

So how did I go from being an O.T working for non-profits and charitable organizations to founding my own content marketing company? They say that life happens when you are busy making other plans. For me, the journey into motherhood…four times…led me down a path different to the one I had envisaged when I donned my graduation cap in 2002. The advent of digital technology meant that I was able to use my knowledge of human behavior and my writing skills to explore and develop skills as a content marketer, as it allowed me to work while at home with the kids. Thus I became a freelance content marketer. As my freelance content marketing business expanded it became apparent that there was real need out there for the services I could provide and many talented freelancers like me whose skills could add value to any brand. And so Digital Engage was born. The Occupational Therapy profession is rooted in the philosophy of ‘doing, being, becoming’ – the belief that what we choose to do and how we do it, shapes who we are and who we are destined to become. I believe I am living that destiny!

During the company’s first year, Mtati had the opportunity to present the WordStart business model and MC at Richard Branson’s South African book launch of ‘Screw Business as Usual’. In addition he also assisted Jonathan Ball Publishers spread the word about Gareth Cliff’s ‘Gareth Cliff on Everything.’

Taona Tondoya is a web designer with a strong technical background. A quick learner who can absorb new ideas and can communicate clearly and effectively. He has 7 years experience of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash and ActionScript, Visual Basic. Proven experience in design websites for the online environment. Proven track record in front end design and development using CSS and HTML. He has technical Skills in AS3, PHP, MySQL, Adobe design products and Dreamweaver.
